General FAQ

How do you preserve flowers?

Origin Florals uses modern and traditional flower preservation techniques to carefully press the florals until all moisture is removed. This process is performed with professional flower presses and is monitored daily to ensure moisture is promptly removed and petals are in pristine condition.

How is each botanical art design crafted?

Once preserved and composed, Origin Florals creates each original botanical design using PH neutral adhesive on 100% cotton, acid-free paper. For items in floating frames, the botanical suspends between two glass frames using PH neutral adhesive.

For print reproductions, the original artwork is professionally digitized and printed using a 12-ink printer on acid-free archival quality paper. Due to the high quality of the giclee print, these prints are made to order and ship out in 7 business days.

Are refunds offered?

Origin Florals takes immense pride in creating unique botanical designs to enjoy for years to come.

For Original Art, I do not offer refunds once the product ships. I take great care throughout the process maintaining the natural beauty of the botanicals. The finished pieced (framed or unframed) will be professionally package and wrapped in foam cushioning to ensure your art arrives damage-free. If you have a question or concern about your order, please reach out to taylor@originflorals.com and I will do my best to make sure you are happy with your order.

For Botanical Art print reproductions, Origin Florals will refund your order once I receive the artwork print at the studio. Due to the high-quality nature of print reproductions, they are made-to-order and so are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Refunds must be submitted and shipped back within 14 business days of delivery date.

Custom Order FAQ

How long until I can expect to receive my pressed floral arrangement?

Your flowers will be in my presses for up to 6 weeks depending on flower type. Thicker flowers may require more time in the press. Once flowers are pressed and properly preserved, Origin Florals will spend 1-2 weeks composing your floral arrangement. I will email you a proof to review and provide one round of revisions. I may not be able to accommodate additional proofs and revisions during peak wedding season in Arizona (November thru May).

Please note the total process can take up to 10 weeks until you receive your framed arrangement during wedding season.

How much can I expect to pay in total?

The cost of the frame plus the cost of preservation services to carefully press, preserve and compose your florals into a beautiful arrangement is included in the Total Product Price. There will be no shipping costs for orders residing in the Greater Phoenix metro market. For out of state orders, there will be an additional shipping cost involved. Please click on the following product pricing list here for a list of frame options, sizes and pricing.

How do I ship my flowers?

Ideally, you will ship your flowers within the first two days after the event to reduce any additional wilting or aging of flowers. Please ship your flowers using next day or overnight shipping. I like it fresh here at Origin Florals (at first), so it is important I receive them as fresh as possible for a successful preservation.

If you are getting married in Arizona, you can schedule a drop off at my studio, or Origin Florals can provide pickup services as well for an additional fee.

Flowers immediately begin to wilt after the wedding day but can be preserved up to 3 days after. I strongly encourage overnight shipping for bouquets that are not sent the day after the wedding. During shipment, some flowers may brown or lose petals. Overnight shipment can reduce the risk of this occurring. Origin Florals will not reject a bouquet if it is not sent with overnight shipping, however, the flowers will be preserved in the condition that they are received.

Detailed shipping instructions will be provided in order confirmation email. Please read to ensure a successful shipment.

How should I care for my flowers before I ship or hand them over?

Bouquets are out of water for a full day, so it is best to drop them in water whenever you get a chance. Ideally, place them in water at the end of the night in a cool, temperature-controlled room. Also, be sure to grab a centerpiece since those are hydrated all day long and hold up better.

If you know you will be preserving your wedding flowers ahead of time, mention this to your florist and request to not have the flowers sprayed with the preservative as that tends brown the flowers and create spots on the petals.

My bouquet is already dried, can it still be pressed and framed?

Origin Florals is only able to work with flowers that are no more than 2-3 days old. Flowers quickly begin to brown, wilt, and lose petals immediately after they are cut. If already dried, the flowers and leaves will crumble if pressing is attempted. Please contact me directly to discuss timing, or if traveling with flowers from destination weddings.

For dried bouquets, Origin Florals can instead create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind floral imprint with the botanicals. I offer silk scarves, table runners or a custom wall tapestry that is imprinted and dyed using the natural botanical colors from your bouquet. Pretty cool, right??!. Contact me if interested in floral imprinting.

Will my pressed flower arrangement look identical to my day-of wedding flowers?

Due to the nature of the pressing process, the colors and textures will organically change during preservation. Please note this is entirely normal and expected as this resembles how flowers age in nature. Often pure white flowers tend to turn more antiqued white, pink flowers often fade to a light pink/yellow, and red tones can become pinker/purple or even maroon. Every flower is unique and takes the preservation process differently. Origin Florals loves how your florals will reflect the passage of time and symbolize how your marriage has grown and adapted through the years as well.

At Origin Florals, the preserved flower will simply be a pressed version of the original flower. I do not add any paints or dyes to the flowers as it tends to make the end result look, well ... not natural. Origin Florals believes your pressed wedding bouquet should symbolize your love with your partner – authentic, natural, and honest.

Additionally, certain flowers press better than others. Origin Florals will use specific techniques to achieve a result closest to the natural flower. Unfortunately, succulents will not be able to be preserved.

Can I request a specific arrangement style?

Yes! We offer two styles for bouquet preservation: "Modern & Minimalist" or "Grand Dame". The “Modern & Minimalist” is for the ethereal client who wants to showcase light and airy florals resembling fine art that signifies the love and union you share with your partner. The “Grand Dame” is for the luxe client who wants a more traditional composition to showcase the original beauty of their bouquet on their wedding day. When submitting a "bridal bouquet preservation" inquiry form, please indicate which style you would like.

Can I add anything to my custom bouquet order?

Yes! Depending on the frame size selected, you may add certain flat items to your arrangement: your vows, a wedding photo, wedding invitation, a piece of lace, lyrics to your first dance song, etc. Also, Origin Florals can preserve your man’s boutonniere as well. When submitting a "bridal bouquet preservation" inquiry form, please indicate you are interested in preserving additional pieces (i.e. boutonniere, mother/father of the bride florals, etc.) for an additional charge.

How far in advance should I place my order with Origin Florals?

Orders can be placed from 6 months in advance, up to the week of the wedding based on availability. I am a one-woman shop with limited space in my flower presses, so I can only accept a certain number of orders each month. I understand that you may decide you want to keep your florals after you see them in person on your wedding day, and I would be happy to accept last-minute orders for bouquet preservations for a $50 rush order fee.

How do I reserve my wedding date for floral preservation services?

A $50 deposit will reserve your wedding date for preservation. The deposit is non-refundable. Custom bridal bouquet preservation deposits and orders will be purchased via website here. The remaining balance must be paid prior to shipping.

How will my pressed flower arrangement look over time?

Although flowers are forever at Origin Florals, it is important to understand that I am working with an organic matter. The pigmentation in pressed flowers will very slowly fade over time. I do not paint or enhance the colors of the pressed flowers to maintain the natural look of your wedding bouquet. While your pressed floral display may arrive vibrant and colorful, it may lighten overtime. To keep it looking as close to the original as possible for as long as possible, I suggest keeping the display away from bright lighting and sunlight. Each flower will fade/discolor at different rates, but keeping the display in a temperature controlled, low humidity, dimly lit space will help to extend the color of the pressed blooms.

Do you offer refunds on custom orders?

Origin Florals takes immense pride in creating beautiful preserved floral arrangements to enjoy for years to come. For custom preservation orders that are handmade for each client, I do not offer refunds once I receive your flowers at my studio. I take great care throughout the process to ensure the natural beauty of your florals is maintained. Your finished frame will be professionally package and wrapped in foam cushioning to ensure frames arrive damage-free. If you have a question or concern about your order, please reach out to taylor@originflorals.com and I will do my best to make sure you are happy with your order.
